The Designation of Origin Ribera del Duero, as it is now known, arose from the efforts of a group of wine producers and growers who were determined to promote the vineyards and the quality of the wines of the region.
Since then with the introduction of modern cultivation methods, the use of state of the art wine making technology, and the application of rigorous processes by the Regulation Council, the Ribera del Duero product has became the cornerstone of a robust economy, and is considered synonymous with quality.

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION

The Ribera del Duero does not extend all the way along the banks of the River Duero (as its name suggests). Our wines come from a specific area where nature is unique and the land is very special.

The lands included in the Ribera del Duero Designation are located on Spain`s northern plateau. Four of the provinces of the Autonomous Community of Castilla y León come together in the Ribera del Duero: Burgos, Segovia, Soria and Valladolid.

The River Duero is the axis uniting more than 100 villages spread out over a wine growing belt which is some 115 Km long by 35 Km wide.
